Poetry in Motion by Lorraine Candy

Going over poetry study notes in class just before my final high school exam, I found myself learning in parrot fashion, the answers to probable questions. Poetry in Motion by Lorraine Candy.

It suddenly occurred to me that the text-book answers were just a guideline, a small group of people’s interpretation of what must be.

I re-read the poem again, this time reading it from my perspective and found a different interpretation. With my new-found clarity, I challenged my English Teacher and told him I disagreed with the text-book and that there is no right or wrong interpretation of the poem. He argued with me of course but I remained adamant that everyone who reads a poem will interpret it differently.

I wasn’t overly surprised when I received my exam results and found that I had failed because I did not adhere to “the rules”. Twenty six years later my opinion hasn’t changed at all and I still remember well, my teacher’s parting words, “Never stop arguing – one day you might be right”. 7 Vital Writing Points for Successful Marketing

Vital Writing Points for Successful Marketing

#1 Functional and Purposeful.

Have you ever returned to your car from a morning at a mall to find your windscreen looking as if someone was trying to wrap it? Now think to yourself, have you ever read any of those annoying flyers? Personally I don’t because I don’t believe in the principle of peeving people off through marketing. What further annoys me regarding this style of marketing is that it brings out the worst in the car owners too. They’re so frustrated at finding their cars in that state, most throw the flyers on the ground right there. Others drive out the mall with the flyers and then choose to empty their vehicle out along the road. It’s just wrong.

Take the Udemy Marketing Strategies Course.

The same goes for business cards… how many business cards have your received in your life time, and how many did you use? I think the only business cards that actually get kept and used are the business cards found in the medical realms and hair salons because they serve a purpose by having the appointment scheduled on them. 10 ideas to Increase Writing Efficiency

10 Ideas to Increase Writing Efficiency

“The main rule of writing is that if you do it with enough assurance and confidence, you’re allowed to do whatever you like. (That may be a rule for life as well as for writing. But it’s definitely true for writing.) So write your story as it needs to be written. Write it honestly, and tell it as best you can. I’m not sure that there are any other rules. Not ones that matter.” — Neil Gaiman

I am a huge Neil Gaiman fan, so I believe his simplistic outlook would be the only ‘rule’ to writing that I can relate to. However, it does not help me much in terms of being efficient.

Productivity is the greatest daily goal of a writer, when achieved it can immediately be interpreted as success. When I started writing I found so many things were hindering my writing, and most of the tasks I believed I carried out to be more productive.
